Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is used to help individuals overcome addiction to opioids (heroin/prescription painkillers) as well as addiction to alcohol.  Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio administers this treatment under the direction of licensed/certified physicians/advanced practice nurses.  Individuals who undertake this treatment are required to participate in ongoing alcohol and drug treatment to ensure the best chance of successful treatment.

Requirements

Like all other services provided at RSNWO, clients need an assessment completed by RSNWO clinical staff and subsequent referral to the MAT program. MAT treatment team reviews assessment and referral and makes the MAT program determination. MAT treatment team provides an orientation and then schedules the client for their initial prescriber evaluation visit.

The MAT program is very intensive and requires a high level of commitment. Participants are required to attend group and individual counseling, scheduled and random drug screens, prescriber visits, and sober support meetings in their community.
